We grow three different types of chard: Swiss, red and rainbow (a variety of colors with shades of white, yellow, pink and red). Isn’t it gorgeous!
Chard can be used in almost any recipe that calls for spinach. You can add it to salads to add some color and texture besides just lettuce. Chop it up and toss it in soups. Throw it in your smoothie. My favorite way is to simply caramelize some sliced onions and garlic in olive oil. Then toss inĀ roughly chopped chard and saute until it is done to your likeness. A simple but heart healthy side dish. Just like spinach it cooks down quite a bit. If you have any leftover, toss it in your morning eggs or frittata.
